Come and Celebrate with Our Youth! - Story to Screen Movie Premiere

Youth set up and prepare to shoot a scene at the Greater Olney Library

Lil Filmmakers, alongside The Free Library of Philadelphia, has proudly created three short films written, directed, and acted entirely by local youth!

Students at the Wynnefield Library look over their scripts

Story to Screen is a youth-led spring program that allows adolescents to truly express themselves. This program helps children 11 to 17 build communication, leadership, and more importantly emotional learning. This program is also a wonderful opportunity for youth to get involved in and learn about the local arts. Over the course of five weeks, students found pressing matters in their community and personified these emotions through film (as well as technical filmmaking techniques). The program was held at at Wynnfield, Cobbs Creek and Olney library in Philadelphia. To view more behind-the-scenes of the program, check out the video: https://youtu.be/V4Txm1Z_dwg

Someone New, Unknown Territory, and Frenemies each focus on the trials and tribulations of growing up. While each film tells a different tale, the key motif centers around inclusivity. Whether that be making friends, losing friends, or going to a new school…it’s only human nature to want to try and find our place in this world. The films will be premiering this Wednesday, November 9th from 4:30 to 5 pm. After the viewing, a raffle for movie tickets will also be held! Registration for the event today.
